Ian Haddon

Ian brings over 25 years of business experience at the highest levels. Holding European group directorships with such organisations as The Rank Organisation, Invensys Plc, General Signal Inc. & SPX Corporation. Ian’s experience includes company start-ups as well as leading 15 successful business turn-rounds in the UK, Europe & Australasia.

In addition to his leadership duties, Ian gained an enormous amount of experience in developing businesses through mentoring the leadership teams for higher than average results, using proactive HR as part of the tool kit, for which he was awarded the prestigious chairman’s award in 2002 for organically improving profitability by 550% (£11m) in 18months.

Ian recognised the need for leadership, business, and team development within the small to medium sized enterprises and highlighted the need for owners and managers of businesses to have a greater practical working understanding of the whole HR process. Firmly believing that the right approach to HR can grow a business faster than most marketing budgets, he has developed his company to provide this support to the SME sector. They currently provide support to both Business link and the DTI in this area.

Ian’s courses provided by the Taktika Business School offer a broad cloak of knowledge about the current employment legislation regulations in the UK. The module is original in approach, as it sets out and highlights the traps employers fall into when dealing with staff issues. This is true for companies that are struggling with performance and those on a fast track to the stars.

With the wrong approach to HR a company is exposed to tribunal cases being bought by employees present and past. Current award levels by tribunals frequently exceed £50,000, which can represent the profit on £650,000 of sales and have forced many companies out of business. Ian believes that knowledge is power and in this area can mean the difference between survival or not.
